Terms and conditions for the UNISON Living prize draw

General

  1. By entering the UNISON Living Free Prize Draw (“UL”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
  2. Any entry and participation instructions form part of these Terms and Conditions.  Any entries not complying with these Terms and Conditions will not be valid.
  3. Only UNISON members are eligible to enter the UL. UNISON (NEC employed) Staff and Branch Employed Staff are ineligible to enter the UL.
  4. The UL is open only to individuals aged 16 years or over who live in the United Kingdom. Any person who has entered the UL and who is found to be under 16 years of age will automatically forfeit any prize. UNISON reserves the right to require proof of identity and age.
  5. One entry per member only; multiple entries will be disqualified.
  6. You will not be charged for entering the UL.

Purpose

  1. Unions are under attack, and the purpose of the UL is to update members’ personal contact information for UNISON’s records. This will allow UNISON to contact you quickly and more efficiently to offer support and assistance. Any information provided will be used by UNISON to administer your membership record and our relationship with you as a valued member, and to provide you with information about UNISON’s activities and for other trade union related purposes, in accordance with UNISON’s Privacy Policy (https://www.unison.org.uk/privacy-policy). See further paragraph 17 to 20 below).

How to enter

  1. You may enter the UL by Collecting a stamp from each UNISON Living partner, Welfare ‘There for you’ and UNIZONE exhibiting at NDC 2016, and once your card is complete fill in your details on the back and return /post it at the UNISON Living Stands in the Exhibition zone (post boxes provided) .
  2. Entries will only be accepted once you tick the box that you have accepted the Terms and Conditions.

Prizes

  1. The prizes are as follows:
    1. Gift card to the value of £300
    2. Holiday voucher to the value of £500
  2. The closing date for the UL is Thursday, 23 June 2016 at 1500.
  3. The winning entries will be selected randomly from all the entries received before the closing date and the optional prizes will be awarded in order of selection. The first winner selected will be given first choice of the prizes listed in paragraph 10 above; the second winner selected will be awarded the remaining prize.
  4. Prizes are subject to availability and UNISON reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value. Prizes are non-transferable, non-negotiable and except where expressly stated no cash alternative will be available.

Notification of winners

  1. The draw will take place on Thursday 23 June at 1730 hours in the UNIZONE and winners will be notified and contacted direct by telephone or email (subject to the contact information provided) with details about how to claim/collect their prize. The winners will be announced at NDC on Friday, 24th June 2016.
  2. The winners titles, surnames, Home Counties will be available at unison.org.uk or by sending a stamped addressed envelope to Freepost RSKU-RRCA-HHSJ, UNISON, UNISON Centre, 130 Euston Road, London NW1 2AY. This list is for information purposes only and, subject to paragraph 14, prizes shall be awarded only to winning entries as recorded during the draw.
  3. By entering the UL, winners agree that their photograph, title, surname and Home County will be published on UNISON’s website, unless such consent is withdrawn in writing to action@unison.co.uk/ Communications, UNISON Centre, 130 Euston Road, London NW1 2AY once they are notified that they have won a prize.

Privacy

  1. For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the “Act”), the Data Controller (registration number Z90055341) is UNISON of 130 Euston Road, London NW1 2AY.
  2. Personal Data may be processed by UNISON in its capacity as Data Controller and Data Processor (The terms Personal Data, Data Controller and Data Processor have the meaning as set out in the Act).

Use of personal information

  1. By entering the UL you agree to UNISON’s Privacy Policy: https://www.unison.org.uk/privacy-policy
  2. By entering the UL you also agree that UNISON will:
    1. Use the information provided by you in the course of entering the UL to process your entry;
    2. Communicate prize information in relation to the UL;
    3. Verify and as necessary update your personal information against your UNISON membership;
    4. Provide you with a more personalised service;
    5. Use the information provided to administer your membership record and our relationship with you as a valued member, and to provide you with information about UNISON’s activities and for other trade union related purposes; and
    6. Use this information to contact you in relation to matters not covered by a-e that you have indicated will interest you.

Breach of Contract

  1. UNISON reserves the right to reject your entry and/or award any prize to an alternative winner if UNISON has grounds to believe that you have breached any of these Terms and Conditions, acted fraudulently or illegally, or on other reasonable grounds and UNISON shall have no liability to you for any loss or damage arising from UNISON exercising such rights.

Liability

  1. UNISON will not be held responsible if UNISON members chose not to enter the UL, or provide incorrect information to enter the UL.
  2. If, after 3 months of the date of the draw, a prize cannot be paid or delivered (as applicable) using the details provided to UNISON; or any cheque payment from UNISON remains uncashed; this prize will be forfeited.
  3. UNISON reserves the right to modify, cancel, terminate or suspend the UL in whole or in part in UNISON’s sole discretion.
  4. UNISON shall not be liable for:
    1. entries, communications or prizes which are lost, stolen or delayed in the post, damaged or illegible, from which the prize winner or entrant cannot be identified (proof of posting is not proof of receipt);
    2. any late bank payments;
    3. UNISON’s failure or inability to contact you and/or award any prize due to any errors, omissions or inaccuracies in the contact or bank details you have provided or your failure to update these if they change;
    4. loss or damage incurred by you in connection with your participation in the UL or your use of any prize; or
    5. any failure or delay beyond UNISON’s reasonable control.
  5. Nothing in these terms and conditions shall limit UNISON’s liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence, fraud or for any other matter for which liability may not be limited by law.

Variation to Terms and Conditions

  1. UNISON may amend these terms and conditions at any time, but will notify you of material changes before these come into effect.

Jurisdiction

  1. These terms and conditions are governed by English law and entrants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

Complaints

29. UNISON’s decision in all matters relating to the UL is final. UNISON operates a complaints and disputes procedure which is available at https://www.unison.org.uk/get-help/online-enquiries/ .
